The Zip-Off System
One system. Full range of motion, that works your way.
The Problem
A leather tool belt does its job, but it never comes off. You wear the full weight of your gear all day, whether you're actively using it or just walking between tasks, climbing a ladder, on the roof, or squeezing into tight spaces. UPDOGG was built to fix that.
There's another problem most tradies just live with: wearing two belts at once. One to actually hold your shorts up, and a second, heavier one loaded with tools sitting on top of it. Two belts stacked on your waist all day can pinch at the skin, and the extra weight of a full tool belt has a way of dragging your pants down as the day goes on — something you end up hitching back up without even thinking about it. UPDOGG fixes that too. With the tools built straight into the shorts, there's only ever one belt to deal with — clean, simple, and just as functional as it looks good.
How It Works
- Zip on. Attach the Cordura pockets to your UPDOGG shorts via the reinforced zip line along the waistband. Takes seconds, no buckles or straps to fuss with.
- Load your gear. The pockets are built to hold your everyday tools — tape measure, driver, fixings, whatever the job calls for.
- Make it yours. UPDOGG accessories, like the D-Loop tool holder, attach with doubled velcro — so whether you're left or right handed, you can set them up exactly where they work for you. We recommend one D-Loop holder attached per side, so your load stays balanced across both hips.
- Work like normal. The pockets sit close to the body and move with you, not against you, thanks to the four-way stretch shorts underneath.
- Zip off. Heading up a ladder, into a client meeting, or just want the weight off for a minute? Unzip the pockets and set them down. Your shorts stay on, fully functional, fully comfortable.
Built to Last
The zip-off pockets are made from Cordura fabric, chosen for its abrasion resistance and durability under real job-site conditions — and lighter than traditional leather, so you get the toughness without carrying the extra weight. The shorts themselves use a 93% Polyamide / 7% Elastane four-way stretch blend, OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified, with double and triple stitched seams on the leg and crotch.
Why It Matters
Think about how most tool belts actually get loaded up — rarely evenly. A hammer on one hip, fixings and a driver on the other, and that imbalance sits on your body for the whole shift, not just the minutes you're actually using each tool. Carried that way day after day, it's an easy way to end up favouring one side without even noticing.
The zip-off system was designed around how tradies actually work across every trade — carry the specific gear a task calls for, then take the weight off the moment you don't need it. Rather than one heavy belt loaded for the whole day, it's tools on when you need them, off when you don't.
